Role Description

We are looking for a full-time Ph.D. researcher or postdoctoral researcher with deep practical expertise in robotics, someone who can look at a robotics problem and quickly identify and fix the real failure point when needed, provide technical judgment, and teach the team the missing knowledge needed to avoid repeating mistakes.

This is an on-site position at CBG in Beer Sheva. Remote work is not suitable for this role because the work requires direct access to robots, hardware, lab infrastructure, and experimental setups.

Relevant expertise includes:

Real robotic systems, not only simulation.

Humanoids, legged robots, robotic hands or complex mechatronic systems.

Mechanical design and modification of robotic components, including end-effectors, mounts, actuators, joints, and sensor integrations.

Writing and debugging low-level drivers and robot hardware interfaces.

ROS 2 system design, integration, logging, deployment, sim2real and debugging.

Robot kinematics, dynamics, control, calibration, and system identification.

Batteries, power systems, edge compute, networking, real-time constraints, lab safety, and field reliability.

In addition to contributing robotics expertise to the main project, the candidate will have significant freedom to define and pursue their own research direction using the lab’s platforms and infrastructure.

For a candidate interested in embodied AI, the environment offers strong opportunities to work on state-of-the-art applied AI for robotics, including world models, automated reinforcement learning, vision-language-action models, and related directions. However, the core requirement for this role is deep robotics expertise.
