Mechanical AI Engineer

bananaz is a seed-stage startup building an AI platform that helps mechanical engineers automate the review of 2D drawings, 3D models, and engineering changes - directly inside their CAD and PDM tools.

We're looking for a Mechanical AI Engineer to own the quality and validation of everything we ship that's powered by AI. You'll sit at the intersection of mechanical engineering and applied AI, building the benchmarks, ground truth datasets, and test programs that determine whether our AI meets the bar a real engineering customer expects. What you'll do: Build and maintain ground truth datasets (drawings, 3D models, inspection reports) to benchmark and validate our AI

Design and run acceptance tests for every new feature before it reaches customers

Identify gaps between AI output and engineering intent, and translate them into clear requirements for Product and R&D

Develop lightweight scripts and tools to automate validation and catch regressions early What we're looking for: B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) with at least 1 year of hands-on experience

Strong SolidWorks skills and solid understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T

Comfort with modern AI tools, LLMs, and scripting

Sharp eye for detail and a startup-ready mindset

Fluent English (written and spoken)

Bonus points: Creo / Inventor / Fusion 360, PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM, Windchill), manufacturing process knowledge (CNC, 3D printing, sheet metal, injection molding), prompt engineering, or early-stage startup experience.
